Ann Marie Brown

Author of 10 guidebooks on California recreation, Ann Marie Brown hikes, bikes, and camps more than 150 days each year in an all-out effort to avoid routine, complacency, and getting a real job.

Ann Marie's guidebooks include Day-Hiking California's National Parks, 101 Great Hikes of the San Francisco Bay Area, California Waterfalls, Northern California Biking, Southern California Cabins and Cottages, and California Hiking. Her writing has appeared in Sunset, Backpacker, and Outside magazines. As a way of giving back a little of what she gets from her experiences in nature, she writes and edits for several environmental groups, including the Sierra Club and National Resources Defense Council.

When she isn't traipsing along a California trail, as she did for VIA in a weekend getaway in Kings Canyon, Ann Marie can be found at her home on the Half Moon Bay coast, counting whale spouts instead of working.
