As one of VIA's two original interns, Matt Samelson wrote for the magazine about the trails and fern forests of Mendocino Nordic ski trails in the West, and, most recently, Western hot springs. He went on to become the managing editor at Couloir in Lake Tahoe, Calif. He has since traded his winter gear for a surfboard and currently resides in Dominical, Costa Rica.
