The new Alaska quarter

A grizzly feasting on a fresh salmon under the North Star graces a new quarter that's arriving just in time for the state of Alaska's 50th birthday. The "Great Land"—a translation of the Aleut word Alyeska—joined the union on January 3, 1959. The coin is the 49th of 50 quarters to be released by the U.S. Mint in order of statehood. Check your pocket change or buy this collectible in a boxed set. (800) 872-6468, usmint.gov.
