A toy bison from the State Historical Society of North Dakota

With its fine fur and wispy whiskers, this bison is cuddlier than a live one—and easier to take home (10 inches, $13). You can buy yours at the museum of the State Historical Society of North Dakota in Bismarck, where beginning May 15 the exhibit Lincoln’s Legacy in North Dakota includes the 1862 Homestead Act that Abe signed. The state’s bison, all but wiped out by settlers, now number 27,000. (701) 328-2666, www.nd.gov/hist.
