A blister can take the spring out of any traveler’s stepbut with a small blister kit you’ll be able to happily hoof it through the Sierra or roam the galleries of Santa Fe. By purchasing a few items at an outdoor store or pharmacy, you can easily put together a collection of foot-friendly aids that can be stowed in your fanny pack, shoulder bag, or suitcase.
For minor hot spots, pack Band-Aids or Dr. Scholl’s Moleskin Plus Padding to prevent friction. For full-fledged blisters, include one of the many dressings designed to soothe and help healtry Spenco 2nd Skin Blister Pads or Band-Aid Blister Block. You’ll also need triple antibiotic ointment (if you’re not allergic to it), medical tape, and scissors. Carry it all in a waterproof cosmetics case or a stuff sack. If a blister becomes infected and painful, consult a doctor.
