At Hotel Terra near Jackson, Wyo., linens and towels might not be changed every day, but guests can fling open the windows, enjoy showers with natural soap, and brew organic fairtrade coffee in the name of Mother Nature. And those comfy towels and sheets? Pure organic cotton.
The new ecoboutique hotel, which opened this winter at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, is the first in Wyoming and one of just a few nationally to earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. Built partly with lumber from old barns and farmhouses and roofed with reused shingles, Hotel Terra is full of earth-friendly extras. Sink and shower fixtures save water. Paints and carpets emit few volatile chemicals. Tall energy-saving windows bathe rooms with natural light.
