Rockridge District, Oakland

Oliveto Restaurant Rockridge District Oakland California

By Heather Lee

A place to eat
This gourmand’s paradise at the foot of the Oakland hills has more than 60 restaurants and food shops set along 14 blocks. The morning buns at La Farine (510-654-0338) are not to be missed; neither is the chocolate pudding served in a dulce de leche–coated dish at Bittersweet (510-654-7159). For a taste of Italy, try a salumi appetizer at chef Paul Bertolli’s Oliveto (510-547-5356). Slurp bivalves at Pearl Oyster Bar & Restaurant (510-654-5426) before heading to Zachary’s (510-655-6385) for its legendary deep-dish pizza.
