In the hills and streams of northwestern California, native artisans found willow shoots, redbud bark, and sedge and bulrush roots, and with them wove intricate and beautiful baskets. Some 90 such works by almost 40 weavers are now on display in the just-finished Pomo Indian Basket Gallery at the Grace Hudson Museum in Ukiah, Calif.
